About the Online Version of SSDL

In revising the printed article for republication in the World Wide Web’s hypertext format, I have

• added new headings,
• broken long paragraphs into shorter units,
• introduced bulleted lists, where appropriate,
• shortened some passages,
• moved a number of discussion passages into linked files,
• provided additional ways to navigate through the file by using links,

This version also includes several things that were not in the printed article:

• Cartoons on Teaching Styles
• Further discussion of some points,
• the complete text of a short followup article.
