Gerald Owen Grow is professor emeritus of magazine journalism at Florida A&M University. He graduated from Harvard in 1964 and received a Ph.D. in English from Yale in 1968 (in the peaceful days before Deconstruction), with a dissertation on Shakespeare’s tragedies and Milton’s Paradise Lost. He is the author of Florida Parks: A Guide to Camping in Nature, a nature-lover’s guide to the Florida outdoors.

After retiring in 2009, Grow began making photographs, many of the abstract images made with a intentional camera movement, which are on display here.

He also created and maintained Newsroom 101, an online course for journalism students on grammar, usage, spelling and journalistic style.

His home page is at longleaf.net.
